Welcome to INTERHEALTH – WAMSS 2009!

We’re proud to announce the long awaited creation of the Interhealth website.

Here, you’ll be able to find information on upcoming Interhealth events and projects, and discover how you can get involved in Global Health at UWA.

In 2009, we’ll see the return of old favourites, such as The Red Party, the Local and International Needs Contribution Scheme (LINCS), Teddy Bear Hospital and the trip to the Indian Institute for Mother and Child, in Kolkata (previously known as the Calcutta Village Project). We’re also planning to expand on the numbers of students and medical equipment we send internationally, develop a Global Health Short Course, and MUCH MORE!

This is your chance to get involved, learn about the issues and make real changes in your world.

If you have any questions, or have an idea you’d like some help with, send an email to Tanya Suthers and Nick Watts at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

SHMRC 2009 Committee - Call for Applications
Friday, 20 March 2009 17:26

The Students in Health and Medical Research (SHMRC) is the only research conference exclusively for undergraduate health students in Australia.  Supported by WAMSS, this event brings together clinicians, student researchers and the WA health community for presentation and recognition of the fantastic research being done by these students.

In the 2007 and 2008 incarnations, SHMRC has been an astounding success, with nine student presentations and multiple poster entries each year.   Each year has seen over 100 delegates attend, and over $2,000 in cash prizes awarded to both presenters and poster entries.  The event is an inspiration to potential student researchers and a just recognition of the incredible research done by students in a variety of capacities.

SHMRC 2009 aims to be bigger and better than ever, with the introduction of student tutorials in poster design, and the aim to expand the number of students from different backgrounds applying and presenting.  With the support of the Faculty and WAMSS, SHMRC is growing to support the student research community in WA.  We are working towards the ultimate goal of a nationally recognized research conference, for and run by students.

Sound like something you’d like to be a part of?  Read on to find out more about what positions are available and how to apply!  Applications will close on Fri 3rd April 2009.
